Respect and Appreciation as Basis for a Successful Team
Just like fun and enjoyment, respect and appreciation are a part of our team values. Both values are intertwined closely and essential for a well-working ccoperation to us. In this article, we’ll talk about what respect and appreciation means to us and how these values are brought to life in our company.
Respect as a team value
Respect is often underestimated as a team value. But there’s no successful team without it. Respect means to rely on each other and to recognise the skills of other people.
A successful team is build on the foundation of respect. This is the only way to motivate each other and work at a goal together. If we treat each other with respect, we are able to communicate more open and give an honest opinion.
We know that our colleagues listen to us, and that they take our opinions serious. This way, an atmosphere is created that supports creativity and innovation.
Appreciation as a team value
As we already mentioned, respect and appreciation are like brothers to us. Though, respect build the basis and appreciation is on top. To us, working isn’t characterised by 9 to 5 and “Thank god it’s Friday”. We like to see a meaning in what we do every day. Appreciation contributes to this, If my actions are appreciated, a meaning is created for me.
How does this look at our company?
An essential point is to look at every employee as a unique individual with own preferences, wishes and dreams. It’s already an appreciation to respond to your counterpart. Sounds very basic, but is, in fact, under the radar of leaders or while doing daily business.
Respect and appreciation isn’t originating from the leaders only, but from the team too.
We like to do something called “Hummelrunde” which can be translated to bumblebee round. Once a week, all our TEXperts come together. Every one has then the opportunity to praise one or multiple team members for their week’s performance.
Respect and appreciation create positive feelings and motivated people. That’s why a respectful and appreciating teamwork shouldn’t be underestimated.
